Position Responsibilities and Expectations:
- We are seeking a dedicated, creative, and organized Part-Time Before & Afterschool Enrichment Teachers to deliver engaging enrichment classes to students in grades Pre-K through sixth grade.
- The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm and expertise in a variety of specialized subject areas (e.g., STEM, visual arts, performing arts, culinary arts, coding, physical fitness & movement, etc.).
- The enrichment teacher will be responsible for prepping the curriculum/activity, instructing classes, managing student behavior, and maintaining open and professional communication with families and staff.
- Create systems that increase the participation of underrepresented students in the district to include at-risk learners, English Learners, students with disabilities and foster youth.
- Understand and apply effective strategies for intervention and differentiation in the classroom,
- Embed opportunities for student critical-thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity, as well as use of technology and digital media, into all lesson and unit plans.
- Maintain strong classroom management and hold students accountable for upholding school policies, student-developed norms, and classroom expectations.
- Update curriculum on a regular basis using data and research, and seeking out colleagues and professional development opportunities for Computer Science curriculum enhancement.
- Hours: Monday - Thursday 3:00pm -5:00pm. Mother Caroline Academy academic year schedule is very similar to Boston Public Schools in regards to vacation and snow days.
Qualifications:
Have experience successfully teaching or leading an afterschool enrichment curriculum in an urban school, including a track record of improving student achievement.
- Have a Associates Degree and or Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
- Use data to inform instructional planning and practice. Comfortable using Microsoft Excel, sharing and analyzing student performance results, and humility in constantly working to improve instructional practices.
- Experience in standards-based, backwards planning.
- Experience working in an entrepreneurial, dynamic school or related demanding environment.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Have proficiency in email, word processing, spreadsheets, Google Docs/Classroom, etc.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred; willingness to obtain if not already certified

Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, camp, tutoring, or childcare is highly desirable
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to foster a respectful and motivating environment
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices
- Experience with special education or behavior management techniques is a plus
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with children, parents, and team members effectively
