The WIC Certifier provides nutritional education, eligibility assessments and promotes breastfeeding.
Responsibilities
- Performs eligibility and appropriate certification or appointment for prospective and current WIC participants.
- Works with participates on developing goals to attain better health.
- Offers and provides appropriate referrals based on participant need.
- Provides education to WIC participants on changing nutrition through life stages.
- Approves and processes Medical Documentation Form from participant's medical provider.
- Performs breastfeeding review per WIC guidelines before issuing formula.
- Consistently exhibits Moses Lake Community Health Center's Service Standards with participants and co-workers.
- Consistently contributes to a work environment that is supportive and values the contributions of everyone.
- Possesses a basic level of written and verbal communications skills, computational and computer skills and mathematical knowledge typically acquired through completion of a high school program.
- Job duties require specific knowledge of WIC Cascades system processes and practices, typically learned "on the job", or which may include a series of training sessions that would comprise a few weeks if done consecutively.
- Ability to read and speak Spanish and/or Russian is required.
- Must have reliable transportation and provide documentation of auto insurance and valid driver's license as required.
- Travel between sites is required as needed.
