What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grid Modernization Specialist - OMS Lead Lead position at Mosaic?
Please Note
If you have deep hands-on experience in utility outage management, OMS configuration, or distribution operations and you're ready to take that expertise beyond a single utility, we want to meet you.
We're seeking a Grid Modernization Specialist; OMS Lead to serve as a senior technical expert and trusted partner to utility clients across North America. This role is built for someone who understands outage management from the inside: the control room pressure, the storm response complexity, the integration challenges, and the operational stakes of getting it right.
Roles and Responsibilities
In this role, you will own the full arc of OMS delivery, from solution design and architecture through configuration, testing, and go-live. You'll lead design workshops with utility stakeholders, translate complex business needs into functional requirements and system configuration, and ensure end-to-end traceability from requirements through testing outcomes. You'll work across the ADMS ecosystem, aligning OMS with GIS, SCADA, AMI, IVR, and mobile workforce systems, and serve as the key liaison between utility control room teams, customer operations, field crews, and vendors such as Schneider Electric, GE, Oracle, CGI, OSI, and ABB.
You'll also be a trusted voice on operational process, assessing current-state outage management workflows, shaping future-state SOPs for dispatchers, operators, and field crews, supporting training, and helping utilities build the operational change management capability they need to fully utilize what gets built.
Key responsibilities include leading OMS solution design and architecture, configuring and deploying OMS and Switching Management modules within ADMS platforms, developing and executing comprehensive test scenarios including high-activity and blackout conditions, providing go/no-go recommendations based on testing and risk assessment, supporting business process development and operational change management, and contributing thought leadership to the Grid Modernization practice on outage management and storm response.
Skills And Experience
The ideal candidate brings 7 years of experience in utility outage management, OMS implementation, or distribution operations, along with direct platform experience on major OMS and ADMS systems. You should have strong working knowledge of outage detection and prediction, crew dispatch and ETR management, switching and tagging safety processes, storm response coordination, and SCADA and AMI integration. Familiarity with IEEE 1366 and utility reliability metrics such as SAIDI, SAIFI, and CAIDI is a plus. Strong communication and facilitation skills are essential, as you'll regularly drive alignment across utility business, operations, vendor, and IT stakeholders in high-visibility environments.
This is an opportunity to bring your operational expertise to multiple utilities simultaneously, accelerating your impact and working at the forefront of grid modernization across North America.
