We are partnering with a growing medical device company in San Diego to identify a Director of Operations who can help lead the company through its next phase of growth.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly collaborative, mission-driven team developing innovative technology in the medical device space. The company is moving through an important stage of clinical and commercial readiness and is looking for an operations leader who can bring structure, scalability, and execution across manufacturing operations, supply chain, vendors, facilities, and cross-functional business processes.
The Director of Operations will play a key leadership role in building and scaling operational infrastructure while partnering closely with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Clinical, Finance, and external manufacturing/supplier partners. The ideal candidate brings strong medical device operations experience, a hands-on mindset, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving, growth-stage environment.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will lead and strengthen the company’s operational foundation as it scales. This includes oversight of production readiness, supplier and vendor management, inventory and material flow, procurement, warehousing/distribution, facilities, SOP development, and operational planning.
You will work closely with cross-functional leaders to ensure the organization is prepared to support key clinical, regulatory, and commercial milestones, while also improving systems, processes, reporting, and execution across the business. The role requires someone who can move comfortably between strategic planning and hands-on problem solving.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate has experience in a regulated medical device environment and has helped companies transition from development into clinical, commercial, or scaled manufacturing operations. Strong candidates may come from manufacturing operations, advanced manufacturing, process engineering, design transfer, supply chain, or broader operations leadership backgrounds.
Experience with complex Class II/III medical devices, catheter-based technologies, cardiovascular devices, implants, or other highly regulated products would be highly relevant.
Key Qualifications
The company is looking for someone with strong experience in medical device operations, manufacturing operations, supply chain, or related leadership roles. This person should be comfortable working in FDA-regulated and ISO 13485 environments and partnering closely with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Clinical, and Finance.
The ideal candidate will have experience with suppliers, vendors, CMOs, procurement, inventory, and material flow, along with a strong process orientation around SOP development, operational systems, documentation, and continuous improvement. Most importantly, this person should be hands-on, collaborative, and energized by the opportunity to build structure in a fast-paced growth-stage company.
