Morton is seeking an AI Prompt Engineer to support our client's growing AI Innovation Lab. They launched the lab approximately four months ago and have already built and deployed 6–7 internal applications using Replit and other AI-powered development capabilities.
This is not a traditional Software Engineer, AI Engineer, or Machine Learning role. The focus is on effectively using existing AI tools and AI-native development platforms to rapidly turn business problems into functional internal applications.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience using AI to build something real, is comfortable working directly with business stakeholders, and can take an idea from a loosely defined business need through prototype and working application.

Key Responsibilities
- Build and deploy internal AI-powered applications primarily using Replit and similar AI-native development platforms
- Develop, test, and refine prompts that generate consistent and reliable results
- Work directly with business stakeholders to understand business problems and translate them into AI-powered solutions
- Rapidly prototype, test, troubleshoot, improve, and deploy applications
- Develop reusable prompt libraries, templates, workflows, and documentation
- Evaluate emerging AI tools and platforms and identify potential business use cases
- Work alongside BI and data teams to integrate AI applications with dashboards, reporting, and business data
- Help establish repeatable processes and best practices for AI application development
- Operate independently in an environment where requirements may not always be formally defined
- Demonstrated experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar LLMs to build applications, automate workflows, or solve real business problems
- Hands-on experience with Replit or similar AI-native application development platforms
- Experience using prompting to generate, troubleshoot, refine, and iterate on working solutions
- Ability to translate vague or non-technical business requirements into structured prompts and functional applications
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Comfortable working directly with non-technical business stakeholders
- Self-directed and able to operate without detailed technical specifications
- Ability to rapidly learn and evaluate new AI tools and development approaches
- Experience with AI-native development tools such as:

- Cursor
- Claude Code
- Previous experience in a technical, BI, business systems, or analyst role
- Power BI experience
- QuickBooks or similar business application integration experience
- API and data integration experience
- Experience documenting workflows, prompt libraries, templates, or knowledge bases
- Experience supporting professional services, logistics, IT staffing, or other project-based organizations
- Someone who has actually built something using AI — not simply someone who uses ChatGPT regularly
- Ability to show or clearly explain an AI application, automation, or business solution they have built
- Comfortable taking a business problem from idea to prototype to working solution
- Strong business acumen and ability to communicate with non-technical users
- Comfortable with ambiguity and changing requirements
- Curious about emerging AI tools and capable of quickly determining how they can be applied
- A builder mentality with an emphasis on rapid experimentation and delivering usable solutions
