About the Role
Mortgage Vintage, Inc. (MVI) — a leading private money lender and home of CrowdTrustDeed — is seeking a highly skilled Director of Operations, Underwriting & Processing to oversee our loan pipeline, credit decisioning, compliance, and team operations. This role is central to ensuring efficient loan workflow, high-quality underwriting, and smooth, timely loan sales and closings for business-purpose private money loans.
You will manage loan processing and underwriting from intake to post-closing, lead operations for the Newport Beach headquarters, manage loan sales through CrowdTrustDeed.com and work directly with executive leadership, investors, and brokers.
What You’ll Do
Operational Leadership
- Lead daily loan pipeline, processing workflow, and underwriting standards.
- Respect specified Loan Conditions, improve automation, and manage system workflows in Zoho CRM.
- Train, supervise, and support processors and operations staff.
- Maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and operations reporting for management.
Loan Processing & File Management
- Oversee communication with borrowers, brokers, escrow, and title.
- Work with Contract Processor to collect and review borrower/entity docs, property data, disclosures, and third-party reports.
- Work with Contract Processor to Order and track escrow, title, insurance, valuations, tax reports, and required forms.
- Maintain accurate, compliant, and audit-ready loan files.
Underwriting & Credit Analysis
- Underwrite bridge, business purpose cash-out, fix and rent, fix-and-flip, construction, ADU and cash-out loans.
- Analyze borrower credit, background, experience, and bank statements.
- Review appraisals/BPOs, comps, valuations, and title for accuracy and red flags.
- Work with Team to set
- loan terms, structure, CLTV, conditions, and funding requirements.
Closing, Docs & Funding Oversight
- Conduct full pre-closing audits of accuracy, vesting, compliance, and conditions.
- Review trust deeds, notes, escrow instructions, and loan docs.
- Approve Loan Funding Requests and investor/IRA funding confirmations.
- Track post-closing items including recordings and final title policies.
Construction & Funds Control
- Review construction budgets, feasibility reports, and fund-control documentation.
- Approve draw requests, inspections, and budget tracking.
Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain Zoho CRM data accuracy, notes, and loan stage tracking.
- Manage DRE, NMLS, HMDA, and internal loan activity reporting.
- Ensure underwriting files remain fully compliant and audit-ready.
Broker, Vendor & Investor Coordination
- Validate broker licensing, agreements, and compliance documentation.
- Approve invoices for credit/background checks and vendor billing.
- Support CrowdTrustDeed postings with underwriting and risk commentary.
What We’re Looking For
- 4–7 years in private money lending, underwriting, processing, or loan operations.
- Strong understanding of CA DRE/DFPI compliance and private money guidelines.
- Expertise in valuations, title review, credit analysis, and construction budgets.
- Highly organized, detail-driven, and capable of managing a fast-paced pipeline.
- Proficiency in Zoho CRM, and ZohoOne, LOS systems, Excel, Outlook, Dropbox, Office365, Acrobat.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; DRE or NMLS license a plus.
Compensation & Details
- $150,000 annual salary Commissions
- Full-time onsite role (4 days/week at the Newport Beach headquarters)
