About Morrow
Morrow Kitchen Services maintains and repairs commercial kitchen equipment for restaurants, bakeries, hotels, and workplace cafeterias across the Houston metropolitan area.
Our technicians work with dispatchers, parts specialists, and technical support colleagues to diagnose problems, prepare accurate repair recommendations, and keep customers informed.
The role
You’ll service commercial cooking and warewashing equipment, including ovens, fryers, griddles, steamers, and dishwashers.
Your day will involve scheduled maintenance and repair visits at customer sites. You’ll investigate faults, explain your findings, complete approved repairs, and document the equipment’s condition before returning it to service.
This position focuses on cooking and warewashing equipment. Refrigeration and HVAC calls are assigned to other specialists.
What you’ll do
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and equipment-control faults using service manuals, wiring diagrams, and appropriate test instruments.
- Perform preventive maintenance according to manufacturer instructions and the agreed service scope.
- Identify required parts and confirm compatibility before requesting or installing replacements.
- Explain repair findings and estimated next steps to customers in clear, practical language.
- Obtain authorization before completing work outside the approved scope.
- Carry out repairs within your training and authorization, referring specialist trade work through the service supervisor.
- Complete operational and safety checks before returning equipment to use.
- Record symptoms, diagnostic findings, parts used, test results, and follow-up requirements in the service system.
- Maintain an organized service vehicle and accurate parts inventory.
- Share recurring faults and useful diagnostic findings with the wider technical team.
What you’ll bring
- At least three years of hands-on experience repairing commercial cooking or warewashing equipment.
- Confidence reading wiring diagrams and troubleshooting electrical controls and mechanical components.
- Experience using multimeters and other diagnostic instruments safely.
- Familiarity with manufacturer service procedures and safe equipment isolation practices.
- The ability to distinguish a confirmed diagnosis from an issue requiring further investigation.
- Clear customer communication and reliable service documentation.
- A valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets our company vehicle insurance requirements.
- Comfort using a tablet or laptop for work orders, technical manuals, and parts requests.
Manufacturer training or relevant CFESA certifications are welcome. We also consider technicians with strong related experience who can demonstrate the required equipment knowledge. A college degree is not required.
Your workday and service area
You’ll cover Houston and surrounding communities, generally within 60 miles of our service center. Dispatch groups appointments geographically where practical and adjusts workloads for equipment complexity and travel time.
The regular schedule is five weekdays, with Saturdays and Sundays off. This position has no mandatory evening or weekend on-call rotation.
We provide a take-home service van and fuel card. Travel from home to your first assigned customer, between appointments, and from your last customer home is paid under our company policy and included in scheduled working hours.
Occasional overtime may be offered for a repair that runs beyond the planned day. All hours worked are recorded, with overtime paid at 1.5 times your regular rate for hours worked above 40 in a workweek.
The work involves standing, kneeling, reaching, and handling tools in active commercial kitchens. Some locations are hot, noisy, or confined. Lifting aids or team assistance are used for heavier equipment; reasonable accommodations are available.
