What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Installer/Welder-Fabricator position at Morrison Custom Welding and Fabrication?

Morrison Custom Welding is hiring an experienced Field Installer/Welder-Fabricator to install custom metal products on commercial and industrial jobsites.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with welding, fabrication, mechanical installation, structural steel, millwright, ironworking, or commercial construction experience.
When installation work is not scheduled, you will work with our fabrication team in our Wooster shop to build and prepare upcoming projects.
What You’ll Do
- Install stairs, railings, structural steel, miscellaneous metals, platforms, supports, and custom-fabricated products
- Perform field welding, fitting, drilling, anchoring, layout, and assembly
- Read and interpret shop drawings, architectural drawings, and structural plans
- Identify jobsite conditions and help develop practical installation solutions
- Coordinate with MCW project managers, crew members, general contractors, and jobsite superintendents
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, lifts, and other installation equipment
- Load, stage, and prepare materials for upcoming installations
- Perform welding, fitting, layout, and fabrication in the shop when field work is light
- Maintain MCW’s standards for safety, workmanship, professionalism, and jobsite cleanliness
- Lead and mentor installation crew members when assigned as the lead installer
We’re Looking For Someone Who Has
- At least two years of welding, fabrication, construction, mechanical installation, millwright, ironworking, or related experience
- The ability to read a tape measure and understand basic drawings
- Experience using welding equipment, hand tools, and power tools
- Strong mechanical and problem-solving ability
- A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- The ability to work safely at heights and lift and carry jobsite materials
- Dependable attendance and professional communication skills
Experience with structural steel, stairs, railings, rigging, lifts, layout, field welding, or commercial construction is preferred but not required for every applicant.

Typical schedule: M-F (day schedule)
Typical travel area: Locally/Northeast Ohio
Overnight travel: Rarely required
