Morris Heights Health Center is seeking a Supervising Physician to join our clinical leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a physician leader who is passionate about community health, provider development, clinical quality, and building strong care teams in a Federally Qualified Health Center setting.
In this role, the Supervising Physician will provides clinical oversight, consultation, performance management, and, where required by law or organizational policy, physician collaboration for Advanced Practice Providers, including Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants. The physician will support APP performance, documentation quality, productivity, clinical standards, patient access, and care delivery while maintaining a limited direct patient care panel.
This role will also support MHHC’s academic and workforce development mission by serving as a clinical preceptor for approved students and trainees.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical and administrative supervision to assigned Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and other APPs.
- Support provider performance, documentation quality, productivity, patient access, and clinical accountability.
- Conduct chart reviews, provide clinical guidance, and serve as an escalation resource for complex cases.
- Participate in APP onboarding, mentoring, competency review, and performance improvement.
- Collaborate with medical leadership, operations, nursing, quality, and compliance teams to strengthen care delivery.
- Maintain a limited clinical caseload to support access and model high-quality ambulatory care.
- Precept medical, PA, NP, resident, and other approved clinical learners as assigned.
- Support quality improvement, value-based care, population health, and patient experience initiatives.
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree required.
- Active and unrestricted New York State physician license required.
- Board certification in an applicable specialty required.
- DEA registration required, as applicable.
- Minimum of five years of post-residency clinical experience preferred.
- Prior supervisory, medical director, lead physician, or APP oversight experience strongly preferred.
- Prior experience precepting students or clinical trainees preferred.
- Experience in an FQHC, community health center, ambulatory care, academic, or safety-net setting strongly preferred.
