Job Summary
Job Summary
The job of Maintenance Worker Locksmith - Skilled is done for the purpose/s of maintaining facilities for students, staff and public in safe operating condition: performing skilled journey level locksmith work in the repair, alteration, and installation and keying of locks on buildings, equipment and vehicles: resolving Immediate operational and/or safety concerns; and maintaining a preventive maintenance program. Installs doors and/or configures locking system (e.g. door frames, threshold, makes keys, changes lock combinations, security bolts, electronic strikes, access control hardware, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining facilities in a safe, comfortable and operating condition. Maintains files and records (e.g. manual, computerized master key program, access control software, etc.) for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference. Programs and issues electronic keys and key fobs; designs and maintains a computerized District master record system of keys, locks, access control components, key cards etc. utilizing software; makes new or duplicate keys decoded, impression and or cut from records; maintains security of locks, keys, key cards and fobs.
Requirements / Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS: 4 years of Maintenance and Locksmith experience required. Ability to perform skilled journeyman level locksmith work in installation, repair, alteration, and keying of locks on buildings, equipment, and vehicles. Maintaining a preventive maintenance program. Knowledge and experience with manual and computerized master key programs. Installation and repair of doors, door frames, thresholds, etc.; Knowledge and ability to interpret applicable codes, regulations & safety practices. Substantial experience in a variety of building trades desired. High School diploma, GED equivalent, or higher educational degree. Exams are computerized and will be held at District Office in 29 Palms.
