Junior Engineer

Under supervision, the Bilingual Junior Engineer has job duties that include spec reading, research, conducting tests, modifying techniques, and resolving issues. Additional responsibilities include helping project engineers/managers design, develop, evaluate, and troubleshoot to accomplish project goals. This position requires fluent Mandarin Chinese and the ability to translate for non-English speakers and vice versa. The role also involves supervising construction teams.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Provide general, entry-level support to the engineering department.
• Identify potential areas of product improvement; recommend and assist with the development of appropriate solutions.
• Collect and calculate field and departmental data needed for the preparation of designs and drawings.
• Assist in the preparation of cost and quantity estimates for engineering projects and site investigations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers from different disciplines, technicians, and project managers.
• Participate in meetings, provide input, and communicate technical information effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Translate communications for non-English speaking stakeholders and vice versa.
• Supervise construction teams to ensure project goals and timelines are met.
• Index, reproduce, and maintain engineering documents stored in databases or spreadsheets.
• Apply mathematical and other engineering computations as required in the course of performing work.
• Respond orally to inquiries and requests for information from the general public, contractors, and other agencies.
• Prepare memos, letters, and field reports in the course of performing work.
• Perform related duties as required.
