Morinaga America Foods, Inc. is the proud U.S. manufacturer behind the intensely fruity, delightfully chewy candy loved by millions across the nation. Located in Mebane, North Carolina, our facility represents the first manufacturing site outside of Asia for our parent company, Morinaga & Co., Ltd., a leading Japanese confectionery brand founded in 1899. Since opening our doors in 2015, our Mebane Plant has produced over 1 billion pieces of HI-CHEW annually, fueling the brand’s rapid growth in the U.S. market.
This role has responsibility to support Human Resources and Administrative staff at our Mebane, NC facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
HR Operations & Administration
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HRIS data (new hires, terminations, status changes, etc.)
- Support payroll processes including timekeeping, payroll audits and corrections
- Assist with benefits administration and employee inquiries (FMLA, STD & LTD, Leave Mgt, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Coordinate recruiting and retention efforts (job postings, screening, scheduling interviews, job fairs)
- Partner with staffing agencies for temp-to-perm workforce needs
- Facilitate new hire onboarding, orientation, and pre-employment processes
- Track and report hiring metrics (staffing matrix, time-to-fill, turnover, etc.)
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions regarding policies, procedures or other needs
- Support investigations, documentation, and corrective actions
- Assist with employee engagement initiatives and plant communication efforts
Training & Compliance
- Coordinate required training (safety, compliance, onboarding)
- Maintain training records and ensure audit readiness
- Support OSHA and safety program documentation as needed
Plant Support
- Maintain visible presence on the production floor to support supervisors and employees
- Assist with shift coverage communication and workforce planning support
- Assist with setting up meetings, catering or other business needs
- Successfully manage and maintain assigned projects
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Two years HR or Administrative Support experience required
- Must be able to speak, write and read the English language effectively
- Proven experience with current versions of Microsoft office Suite, and the ability to quickly grasp new technologies, systems, etc.
- Ability to handle confidential information
- Self-starter who is adept at multi-tasking
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for Morinaga in the United States
PREFERRED OR DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Bi-Lingual capability (English & Spanish) a plus
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred
- Bachelor degree in HR, Business Administration or similar field of study preferred but not required
WORKING CONDITIONS
Manufacturing environment sometimes requiring extended periods of standing, sitting, walking and extensive use of computer equipment. May be required to travel locally for recruiting events. May have occasional weekend or off hours activities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about office locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of 10-40 pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp and type for prolonged periods of time; visual acuity to use a keyboard, computer monitor, operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to wear steel toe safety shoes, and comfortable walking through a food manufacturing environment.
Pay: $21.00 - $23.50 per hour
