Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Office Manager to oversee the daily operations of a small ophthalmology practice. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient office workflow, supervising staff, managing patient services, and supporting the delivery of high-quality eye care. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong administrative, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as experience in a medical office setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the ophthalmology office
- Supervise and support front desk, optical and clinical support staff
- Manage staff scheduling, training, and performance evaluations
- Ensure smooth patient flow and a positive patient experience
- Coordinate appointment scheduling, referrals, and follow-ups
- Oversee medical billing, coding, and insurance verification processes
- Monitor office budgets, supplies, and vendor relationships
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA
- Address patient concerns and resolve administrative issues
- Collaborate with physicians, corporate managers, and local clinical staff to improve efficiency
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in medical office management (ophthalmology or optometry preferred)
- Knowledge of medical billing, coding, and insurance processes
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
