Night Shift Superintendent

Morgan Steel is seeking an experienced Night Shift Superintendent / Foreman to oversee all manufacturing and warehouse operations during the night shift. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring production schedules are met while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, productivity, equipment utilization, and employee engagement.
The Night Shift Superintendent serves as the senior operational leader during off-hours, coordinating multiple departments, supporting supervisors and lead personnel, resolving production issues, and ensuring a safe, efficient operation

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead all night shift manufacturing, fabrication, machining, warehouse, and shipping operations.
• Direct daily activities of supervisors, leads, and hourly employees across multiple departments.
• Ensure production schedules are achieved while maintaining quality and on-time delivery.
• Monitor labor utilization and adjust staffing based on production demands.
• Promote and enforce Morgan Steel safety policies, OSHA regulations, and housekeeping standards.
• Conduct regular walkthroughs of all departments to identify safety, quality, equipment, or productivity concerns.
• Coordinate with Maintenance to minimize downtime and prioritize equipment repairs.
• Ensure all quality standards and inspection requirements are followed.
• Review production metrics including scrap, downtime, efficiencies, and labor hours.
• Assist in troubleshooting production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate shift reports and communicate production status to day shift leadership.
• Conduct shift meetings and communicate daily priorities, safety topics, and production goals.
• Coach, mentor, and develop supervisors, lead personnel, and production employees.
• Assist with interviewing, onboarding, training, performance management, and employee development.
• Address attendance, disciplinary issues, and performance concerns in accordance with company policy.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure proper use of cranes, forklifts, and production equipment.
• Maintain inventory accuracy through coordination with Inventory Control and Shipping departments.
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations and equipment failures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Minimum 7 years of manufacturing experience.
• Minimum 3 years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience supervising multiple departments simultaneously.
• Strong knowledge of steel fabrication or metal manufacturing operations.
• Experience leading teams of 50 employees preferred.
• Ability to read production schedules, blueprints, and manufacturing documentation.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and manufacturing safety practices.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and conflict resolution abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/production systems.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

• Steel service center or structural steel manufacturing experience.
• Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
• Experience with:

  • CNC Machining
  • Saw Operations
  • Shipping & Logistics
  • Inventory Control
• OSHA 30 certification (preferred).
• Forklift and Overhead Crane experience.
