Saw Operator

Morgan Steel, LLC is seeking a skilled Saw Operator to join our steel warehouse team. The Saw Operator will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining industrial saws to cut steel materials according to specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience in metal cutting, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and safety in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate band saws, cold saws, and other cutting equipment to process steel materials.
• Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and job specifications to determine cutting dimensions.
• Measure and mark materials for cutting, ensuring accuracy and minimizing waste.
• Adjust saw settings, including blade speed, cutting angles, and feed rates, for optimal performance.
• Inspect cut materials for quality and accuracy using precision measuring tools.
• Perform routine maintenance and blade changes on saw equipment.
• Load and unload steel materials using forklifts, overhead cranes, or manual handling as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, following company safety policies and procedures.
• Identify and report any material defects, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns to supervisors.
• Work collaboratively with warehouse and production teams to meet deadlines and maintain workflow efficiency.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience operating saws in a steel warehouse or manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and cutting specifications.
• Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
• Basic mechanical skills and ability to troubleshoot minor machine issues.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Knowledge of workplace safety standards and adherence to safety protocols.
• Forklift and overhead crane certification or willingness to obtain certification preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
