Accounting Manager
A growing manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead its general accounting function and supervise a team of accounting professionals. This individual will oversee the monthly close process, financial reporting, inventory accounting, technical accounting matters, audit coordination, and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong GAAP knowledge, experience in a complex accounting environment, and a passion for developing people and improving processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 3–5 accounting professionals through coaching, training, and performance management.
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules for accuracy and completeness.
- Manage inventory accounting, standard cost analysis, inventory reconciliations, and physical inventory processes across multiple facilities.
- Oversee fixed asset accounting, depreciation, lease accounting, and capital project tracking.
- Research and interpret complex accounting guidance, prepare technical accounting memos, and implement new accounting standards.
- Coordinate annual financial statement audits and serve as the primary contact for internal and external auditors.
- Partner with operations, supply chain, finance, and executive leadership to improve financial reporting, internal controls, and business processes.
- Support ERP enhancements, system implementations, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Review cash activity, assist with treasury functions, and support budgeting and forecasting efforts.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
- Public company accounting experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience working with ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or similar platforms preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUPs, and complex formulas.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
