POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE:          GROUNDS/FACILITIES TECHNICIAN 

REPORTS TO:                 DIRECTOR OF GROUNDS AND FACILITIES               

POSITION SUMMARY:  Work with the Director of Grounds and Facilities as well as other staff in all areas of maintenance and repair related to facilities and grounds.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Irrigation, general grooming of site lawns, shrubs, etc.
2. Installation and repair of sprinkler and other mechanical systems.
3. Operate and care for any large and small equipment used in maintenance of facilities and grounds.
4. Interior and exterior building repairs as needed.
5. Moving of furniture and equipment as needed.
6. Painting of buildings, playground equipment.
7. Snow removal and other maintenance and repair of parking lots and sidewalks
8. General maintenance and repair of equipment, grounds and facilities as needed.
9. Rotating and emergency on-call service and responsibility required.
10. Practice safety and promote safety awareness with other employees.
11. Perform such other duties as directed or required by the Director of Grounds and Facilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

1. Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
2. Demonstrate effective English communication in both oral and written form.
3. Demonstrate initiative and time management skills.
4. Demonstrate ability to work independently or as part of a team.
5. Hold or be eligible for a valid Colorado driver’s license.
6. Pass a background check, including CBI fingerprinting.
7. Able to lift a minimum of 100 pounds, bend, squat, kneel and twist.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
2. Previous grounds and/or facility maintenance experience preferred
3. Willingness to learn and apply new and/or adaptive skills essential to the position, such as but not limited to asbestos testing and reporting.
4. Such other alternatives as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work primarily in both indoor and outdoor public school settings in various size spaces with varied numbers of diverse adults.

All school sites are designated by policy as tobacco, alcohol and drug free. Drug and alcohol testing may be required and must be passed.

LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT:   261 days per year.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Work hours are recommended by the Director of Grounds and Facilities. The number of work hours and salary are established by the Board of Education. The employee shall receive benefits, vacation leave and retirement, which apply to classified personnel as established by Board of Education policy and the Fort Morgan Association of Classified Personnel.

Salary : $24 - $26
