POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: FACILITIES, GROUNDS and MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF GROUNDS AND FACILITIES
POSITION SUMMARY: Provide some leadership, along with the Director of Grounds and Facilities in all areas of installation, maintenance and repair related to facilities and grounds.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in water management and all duties related to irrigation systems.
- Assist in installation and major repair of sprinkler and other mechanical systems.
- Operate and repair grounds equipment.
- Oversee mowing operations, planting of vegetation, managing turf quality, tree trimming and removal.
- Install playground equipment per ADA and Playground Commission Guidelines.
- Assist in providing for concrete pouring and forming.
- Assist with making asphalt repairs.
- Assist with repair of interior and exterior of buildings
- Assist with snow removal planning and other maintenance and repair of parking lots and sidewalks
- Assist with painting and lining of sports fields.
- Assist with trouble shooting and preventive maintenance implementation.
- Practice safety and promote safety awareness with other employees.
- Perform such other duties as directed or required by the Director of Grounds and Facilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Demonstrate effective English communication in both oral and written form.
- Demonstrate initiative, organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrate ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Knowledge of cutting, basic welding, basic plumbing and basic carpentry preferred.
- Hold or be eligible for a valid Colorado driver’s license.
- Pass a background check, including CBI fingerprinting.
- Able to lift a minimum of 100 pounds, bend, squat, kneel and twist.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous grounds and/or facility systems installation, maintenance and repair experience
- Willingness to learn and apply new and/or adaptive skills essential to the position, such as but not limited to asbestos testing and reporting.
- Such other alternatives as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work primarily in both indoor and outdoor public school settings in various size spaces with varied numbers of diverse adults.
All school sites are designated by policy as tobacco, alcohol and drug free. Drug and alcohol testing may be required and must be passed.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Work hours are recommended by the Director of Grounds and Facilities. The number of work hours and salary are established by the Board of Education. The employee shall receive benefits, vacation leave and retirement, which apply to classified personnel as established by Board of Education policy and the Fort Morgan Association of Classified Personnel.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education policies that apply to classified personnel.
Salary : $24 - $26
