Position Summary
The Lead Validation Engineer acts as the central connection between design, test, and certification, transforming validation into a function that drives quality, speed, and customer confidence. You will own and drive the validation strategy and execution for new electronic products within Morey’s New Product Development department. This role ensures that products meet all design requirements, customer specifications, and regulatory standards through robust test planning, execution, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Define requirements or specifications for any required test application software
- Collaborate with the Certification Engineer to align validation evidence with compliance and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate real world validation beyond automated systems to ensure comprehensive product readiness
- Lead the Product Validation (PV) activities for embedded electronic control units, telematics modules, and sensor systems.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive validation plans, protocols, and reports aligned with customer or internal requirements.
- Define test coverage based on system requirements, DFMEAs, and design risk analyses.
- Coordinate environmental, EMC, and functional performance testing.
- Collaborate with design engineers to resolve test failures and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Manage validation schedules and resources for multiple concurrent projects.
- Support the continuous improvement of test methods, equipment, and documentation standards.
- Interface with customers and suppliers regarding validation requirements, test results, and compliance evidence.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 7 years of experience in validation or test engineering for electronic or electromechanical products.
- Proven leadership in validation planning and execution across multiple concurrent programs
- Ability to translate technical validation results into clear, actionable business decisions
- Experience representing validation in customer facing technical discussions
- Strong understanding of PV processes and reliability testing
- Experience managing validation documentation in alignment with ISO and IATF quality systems.
- Hands-on proficiency with test instrumentation (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, CAN tools, data acquisition systems).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with automotive, heavy equipment, or telematics systems.
- Familiarity with LabVIEW, Python, or MATLAB for test automation.
- Exposure to DFMEA, DVP&R, and PPAP processes.
- Mentoring experience in an engineering team environment.
Salary : $80,000 - $115,000
