Lead Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
About the Company & Role
Morey is a growing telematics company building next-generation connected
solutions that bridge devices, data, and the cloud. We’re looking for a hands-on Lead Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, scale, and accelerate the cloud systems and backend technologies that power our telematics and IoT products. You'll take ownership of our cloud architecture, establish engineering best practices, and grow a team as we expand. This role reports to our Director and Chief Engineer and works closely with our firmware, product, and software teams.
Responsibilities
- Architect and develop scalable cloud infrastructure for device connectivity, data ingestion, and processing
- Build APIs and backend services for device management and customer-facing applications
- Establish CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, alerting, and incident response practices
- Define technical standards, documentation, and engineering best practices for infrastructure development
- Evaluate and select cloud platforms, tools, and third-party services
- Collaborate cross-functionally with firmware, product, and software teams as required for edge hardware integration
- Hire, mentor, and lead engineers as team growth is required
- Contribute to product roadmap and technical strategy as it pertains to cloud infrastructure
Qualifications
Required:
- 5 years of software engineering experience with 3 years in cloud infrastructure
- Strong proficiency with AWS and familiarity with IoT specific AWS services
- Experience with IoT protocols and patterns (MQTT, CoAP, device provisioning, time-series data)
- Experience designing distributed systems for scalability, reliability, and security
- Experience designing and developing APIs and cloud hosted backend services
- Optimizing performance of cloud infrastructure for cost
- Proficiency in one or more backend languages (Python, Go, Node.js, etc.)
- Familiarity with containerization, orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code (AWS CDK, Terraform)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in cross functional environments
- Track record of delivering production systems
- Player-coach mindset
Preferred:
- Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration at scale
- Familiarity with embedded Linux
- Previous experience leading or mentoring engineers
- Background in high-growth startup or scale-up environments
Salary : $140,000 - $160,000
