Position Summary
Morenci Area Schools is seeking a dynamic and dedicated educator to teach Business Administration and Operations for the 2025-2026 school year. The successful candidate will plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned with the district's school improvement plan and Career & Technical Education (CTE) standards. This course prepares students for success in business careers through real-world applications, hands-on learning, and opportunities to earn industry-recognized credentials.
Qualifications
Required:
- Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate with appropriate Vocational Authorization in the occupational area
OR - Eligible for an Annual Career Authorization (renewable for up to 10 years)
Preferred:
- Successful teaching experience at the high school level
- Proven ability to build and maintain partnerships with industry and postsecondary institutions
- Knowledge of current educational research and best practices (e.g., multiple intelligences, brain-based learning, emotional intelligence)
- Strong understanding of business concepts with the ability to teach them effectively
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, student-centered classroom environment
Preferred Skills
- Ability to teach core business topics such as management, operations, marketing, and finance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks, with the ability to prepare students for certification exams
- Experience integrating hands-on, project-based learning in a business education setting
- Understanding of the Business Administration and Operations CIP (52.00209) requirements and CTE funding compliance
- Skilled at designing learning environments that promote student achievement and engagement
- Ability to incorporate career development, work-based learning, and leadership opportunities into the curriculum
- Experience using data to develop lesson plans and instructional strategies
- Strong communication with students, staff, parents, and community partners
- Excellent computer skills, professionalism, and regular participation in school-related events
- Keen awareness of responsibilities related to confidentiality and professionalism
- Familiarity with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance
- Develop and deliver instruction that aligns with state-approved CTE standards and district curriculum
- Teach core business concepts through a mix of direct instruction, hands-on projects, and technology integration
- Prepare students for industry-recognized credentials in Business Administration, Microsoft Office Suite, and QuickBooks
- Incorporate career readiness, employability skills, and leadership development into instruction
- Facilitate student participation in work-based learning experiences and career development activities
- Assess student learning through various evaluation tools including projects, presentations, and performance assessments
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student growth and engagement
- Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and stakeholders
- Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to continuously improve the instructional program
- Stay current with industry trends, instructional technology, and professional development opportunities
- Demonstrate cultural competence and a commitment to equity and student success
- Represent Morenci Area Schools positively in the community
- Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise students, classroom activities, and volunteers as needed
Language Skills
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply professional literature, technical documentation, and government regulations
- Ability to write professional reports and correspondence
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from students, staff, and community members
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to work with concepts such as percentages, ratios, and statistical inference relevant to business applications
Physical Demands
