Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities and autism. Duties
- Provide direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities and autism in various settings.
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
- Monitor clients’ health and well-being, ensuring they receive appropriate care and attention.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and skill development.
- Support clients in achieving their personal goals and objectives as outlined in their individual support plans.
- Perform heavy lifting as required when assisting clients with mobility or physical tasks.
- Document client progress and report any changes in behavior or health status to supervisory staff.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience in patient care or direct support preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality and privacy.
- Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities is highly desirable.
- Ability to administer medications safely and effectively as per prescribed guidelines.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact positively with clients, families, and team members.
- Capability to perform heavy lifting when necessary; physical stamina is essential for this role.
- A caring attitude coupled with patience, empathy, and respect for individuals’ dignity.
- Basic cooking skills to prepare nutritious meals for clients as needed.
