About More Farm Stores

Origins & Heritage

  • More Farm Stores traces its roots back to 1913, when it was founded by Homer More as a hardware store selling steel-wheeled tractors.
  • It remains a family-owned operation: the business has passed down through successive generations to the current leadership under Andy More (4th generation).
  • Today, the next generation is already involved: Andy’s son represents the 5th generation in the family business.

What They Do — Products & Services

More Farm Stores operates as a full-service dealer for Kubota, Toro, Bad Boy, Walker and Stihl. Their offerings include:

  • New equipment: tractors, mowers (including zero-turn mowers), skid-steers, excavators, trailers, snow plows, RTVs/UTVs.
  • Attachments, implements & accessories: via partner brands such as Kubota, Toro, Bad Boy mowers, Stihl handheld equipment, and other implement lines (e.g. by Land Pride).
  • Service & parts: maintenance, parts sourcing, repairs — they emphasize experienced, trained technicians and “manufacturer-training” for service staff.
  • Rentals: equipment rentals available on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis — a flexible option for customers who might not want to purchase immediately.

Scale, Reach & Locations

  • The company headquarters (and original base) is in Columbia City, Indiana.
  • Since 2013 — when Andy More became president — More Farm Stores expanded from a single location to five: in Columbia City, Warsaw (IN), Fort Wayne (IN), Kokomo (IN), and a location in Ridgeville Corners–Napoleon, Ohio (opened January 2025).
  • As of 2025, the company employs around 50 people across its locations.

Business Strategy & Culture

  • The leadership emphasizes conservative, controlled growth: expansion has been gradual and deliberate.
  • Their strategy historically included partnerships with rental centers and repair shops to “test the waters” in new markets before committing to full store openings — a measured, low-risk approach.
  • More Farm Stores prioritizes customer service, establishing long-term relationships, keeping customer information on file to facilitate parts, service, and follow-up support.
  • On the internal side, they invest in training and retaining quality technicians: staff have access to manufacturer-level training, and the company aims to offer fair compensation and good working conditions.

Market Position & Customer Base

  • Roughly 70% of More Farm Stores’ business comes from commercial contractors, municipalities, and commercial clients; the remaining 30–40% comes from homeowners with acreage — often referred to as “HOWAs” (Homeowners with Acreage).
  • Their focus on honest, trusted dealings and solid after-sale support has earned them a strong reputation in their regional market.

Recent Developments & Operations Modernization

  • As the company has expanded to multiple locations (including the most recent Ohio location), they recognized the need for better internal systems: in 2025 they partnered with an IT services provider to build a more unified, streamlined IT infrastructure — aiding communication, inventory management, and operational efficiency across all stores.
  • This modernization supports their goal of growth without compromising the quality of service and support that defined their early decades.

Why More Farm Stores Matters

More Farm Stores offers a blend of legacy craftsmanship and modern efficiency: a century-old family business that has successfully adapted to changing markets, broadened its footprint, but still emphasizes honesty, trust, and customer relationships. For farmers, contractors, landscapers, and rural property owners in Indiana and nearby areas, they serve not just as a vendor — but as a dependable, full-service partner offering equipment, service, rental, and expertise under one roof.
