POSITION SUMMARY:
Candidates do not need to have tennis knowledge for this position.
The Tennis Coordinator will provide excellent customer service by welcoming Members and guests, and assigning courts for play. Other major duties will include managing the Shop Desk and answering phones. The Tennis Coordinator will prioritize building a rapport with members and staff and also carry out any other objectives set forth by the Tennis Director. These objectives will be accomplished through the following duties and responsibilities. The Tennis Shop Staff will report directly to the Tennis Director and will work closely with all other Tennis and Club Staff. Must have the ability to work Saturday and Sunday, 730 am to 330 pm.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING AND OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED:
- Welcome Members and guests, assign courts for play and advise tennis players of daily activity at the Club
- Provide friendly, professional, timely service, and assistance for all Members and guests
- Manage the Shop desk, answer phones, and communicate with Tennis Staff.
- Take food orders for home matches and special events for Members. Follow up with Food & Beverage on the day of the match or event to confirm time of delivery
- Ensure the accurate and timely collection of all charges and fees associated with tennis activities and Member/guest billing during their shift
- Maintain Tennis deadlines
- Work with the Administrative Staff to update all Tennis communications; including all email campaigns and website content
- Work with Tennis Director on new Member Orientation
- Provide administrative support through creation of Excel, Word, and Publisher Tennis related documents and maintain an organized filing system of Tennis related events
- Assist, manage and attend Tennis events when necessary
- Help develop systems to improve efficiency in the Tennis Shop
- Support the development of new programs, services, and events while promoting all MCC Tennis activities
- Manage and update the MCC Tennis Calendar for home and away matches for all leagues MCC participate in yearly. This includes the Women’s Fall, BALL and Spring League and all Men’s and Women’s USTA league play
- Empty trash on each court, refill coolers and clean debris on the courts as necessary
- Set up ball machine and advise members of the ball machine programing when necessary
- Follow opening procedures when necessary
- Work with the Tennis Director to incorporate any existing or new programs requested by the Tennis Committee (special events, new policies, etc.) and the Women’s Tennis Committee (special events, TenCap, Competitive program updates, etc.)
- Maintain knowledge of and enforce Tennis rules and regulations, and Club policies, rules and regulations
- Manage the Tennis Operation in the absence of the Tennis Director
- Manage other projects as assigned by the Tennis Director
- The Tennis Coordinator is expected to make decisions concerning the day to day operation of the Tennis department programs and activities that are within the area of responsibilities and are consistent with the prevailing department and Club policies
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Must be a high school graduate

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Assist with court maintenance as directed by the Tennis Director. Attend Tennis Committee meetings at the request of the Tennis Director.
- 2 years related customer service work experience, preferably in a private club or resort oriented operation
- Must have strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must have desktop computer skills including all MS Office products and managing a data base system
- Must have excellent time-management skills, be detail oriented and have strong follow through
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task are also required
- A solutions oriented approach and being able to adapt to frequent changes in a fast paced environment is also desired
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all employees and individual Members are required.
