The General Foreman – Saw Crew will oversee all aspects of saw crew operations, including managing personnel, ensuring safety compliance and coordinating daily activities for land clearing projects. This position requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills and hands on experience with chainsaw and heavy equipment operations. The General Foreman ensures that projects are completed on schedule, within scope and to Moorhead’s standards of quality and safety.

The General Foreman – Saw Crew will oversee all aspects of saw crew operations, including managing personnel, ensuring safety compliance and coordinating daily activities for land clearing projects. This position requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills and hands on experience with chainsaw and heavy equipment operations. The General Foreman ensures that projects are completed on schedule, within scope and to Moorhead’s standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct saw crew members in daily land clearing operations.
- Plan and coordinate work schedules, equipment usage and manpower requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations and project specifications.
- Perform site inspections and monitor work quality, productivity and progress.
- Communicate with Project Managers, Superintendents and other crews to coordinate activities.
- Train and mentor crew members on safe chainsaw practices, cutting techniques and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot on-site issues, adjusting plans as needed to keep work on track.
- Maintain accurate records of crew time, production and equipment usage.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
- 5 years of experience in land clearing, forestry, or site development, with at least 2 years in a supervisory/leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of chainsaw operation, tree felling and land clearing methods.
- Ability to read and understand project plans, site maps and specifications.
- Proven leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage crews effectively.
- Commitment to safety and demonstrated experience enforcing safety standards.
- Working knowledge of heavy equipment used in land clearing (skid steers, feller bunchers, grinders, etc.) preferred.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Capable of standing, walking, bending and lifting up to 50 lbs. for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in rugged terrain and around heavy machinery.
