As a Foreman, your primary responsibility is to lead and coordinate daily land clearing operations, ensuring that all work is performed safely, efficiently and according to project plans and production goals. - Perform job site inspections to identify and eliminate potential hazards.
- Ensure all crew members are wearing proper PPE and operating equipment safely.
- Review project plans and site layouts to ensure clear understanding of clearing limits, access roads and production expectations.
- Coordinate daily work assignments with the Superintendent and manage crew activities to maintain production goals.
- Monitor progress, production rates and quality of work throughout the day.
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, fueled and ready for operation.
- Communicate with truck drivers, equipment operators and support crews to keep material moving efficiently.
- Train and mentor operators and laborers on best practices for safety, quality and productivity.
- Track and report daily production totals, hours worked and equipment issues.
- Ensure that all work areas are left clean, organized and safe at the end of each day.
- Ensure the proper equipment is on site and ready for use daily.
- Assign operators to equipment based on skill and project needs.
- Monitor production targets for each phase: grubbing, grinding, mulching, stacking and cleanup.
- Verify all operators are meeting expected production rates per acre based on terrain and conditions.
- Ensure equipment maintenance is completed daily, including fluid checks, cleaning and wear part replacements.
- Review clearing maps and mark out boundaries, buffers and exclusion zones prior to starting work.
- Ensure utility locates are completed and clearly identified.
- Coordinate with trucking and disposal operations to avoid downtime or congestion on site.
- Maintain awareness of changing ground conditions, weather impacts and site access issues.
- Submit daily foreman reports detailing crew activities, production, fuel usage and incidents.
- Report equipment breakdowns and downtime immediately to the Superintendent.
- Track and document jobsite issues, changes in scope or delays.
- Ensure timesheets are accurate and submitted on time.
- Set the example for safety, work ethic and professionalism.
- Promote teamwork and communication among all crew members.
- Provide consistent coaching and direction to operators and laborers.
- Maintain discipline and accountability on the job site.
