JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Technology Technician II

Qualifications:  

• Minimum - Associates Degree and 2 years of technology support and device repair OR 5 years of technology support
• Desirable - Associates Degree and 4 years of technology support and device repair

Physical Requirements: The work requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.  The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.  The work at times requires bending, squatting, reaching, with the ability to lift, carry (max of 50 lbs), push or pull light weights.  The work requires activities frequently involving driving automotive equipment.

Reports to: Director of Technology

Supervises:  N/A

Purpose of Position: This position will provide technical support and assistance to the Technology team, including answering phones, if needed, assisting with light repair of broken and warrantied technology devices, and verifying that devices are configured to district standards in a centralized location. This position will provide support to our schools’ students, staff and central office locations. This position will also support the technology team with new installs of technology equipment and refresh projects, inventory audits and processes, documentation of processes and procedures, pickup and deliveries of technology devices, and level 2 technology support as needed. In addition, this position will manage and maintain assigned technology systems to the highest standards, provide crisis management support for major outages that could seriously affect the educational environment, train end users, and provide documentation to support their technology systems.

Responsibilities, Duties, & Expectations:  

• Answering phones (when applicable)
• Triage for repair technology devices
• Use of a work-order ticketing system and inventory system to track all repairs made and ownership of devices
• Configure technology devices to MGSD standard with operating system, software, and enrollment in proper management system
• Install new technology equipment, projects and technology refreshes
• Assist in pickup and delivery of technology devices as needed
• Assist with school inventory procedure and audits
• Manage and maintain assigned technology systems to the highest standards
• Provide escalated technical support and assistance to the Technology Team
• Document and communicate to the Technology Team and stakeholders all aspects of their systems
• Provide crisis management support for major outages that could seriously affect the educational environment
• Train end users and provide documentation to support their technology systems
• Perform related duties as assigned

Essential Skills: 

• Knowledge of K-12 educational computing environments
• Knowledge of Mac and Windows end user devices
• Knowledge of local area network and network management
• Knowledge of productivity software and applications
• Knowledge of debugging, diagnosis and repair techniques and tools
• Knowledge of Mac/Windows application installs and deployment
• Has working knowledge of SCCM
• Has working knowledge of MDM

Terms of Employment:  12 month, full-time with benefits package contingent upon satisfactory performance and overall good standing

Salary:  Salary commensurate with NC State Salary Schedule
