Kitchen Cook — Full Time, Day Shift

$14.00–$15.50 per hour | 7:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. | Paid Training

Moonlite Bar-B-Q Inn is looking for a dependable person to join our kitchen team. Restaurant kitchen experience is helpful, but it is not required—we will train the right person.

This is a full-time daytime position, typically working 5–6 days per week from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Weekend availability is required.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older because this position involves working with commercial kitchen equipment.

This is a hands-on cooking position, not just food prep. Our kitchen cooks are trained to work in one or more of four stations.

What You'll Learn

Depending on your position and training, you may work in:

Pies & Desserts
Prepare and bake Moonlite's pies, desserts, and other menu items according to our recipes and standards.

Vegetable Cook
Prepare and cook our homestyle vegetables and other hot foods using ovens, stovetops, griddles, and other kitchen equipment.

Cornbread
Mix, prepare, bake, and maintain the supply of cornbread needed for restaurant service.

Fry Cook
Prepare and fry items such as fish and chicken while maintaining proper cooking temperatures, quality, and food-safety standards.

You may begin by learning one station and be trained in additional stations as you gain experience.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

• Can reliably work the 7:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. schedule
• Is available to work weekends
• Shows up for scheduled shifts on time and ready to work
• Is dependable and works well with others
• Is willing to learn and follow established recipes and procedures
• Can work efficiently during busy meal periods
• Takes pride in preparing good food
• Maintains a clean and organized work area
• Follows food-safety, sanitation, and handwashing procedures
• Is willing to help teammates when needed

Previous restaurant or cooking experience is preferred, but not required.

What You'll Do

You'll prepare, cook, bake, fry, portion, and prep food according to Moonlite's recipes and quality standards. You'll safely operate equipment such as ovens, electric griddles, deep fryers, and gas stoves.

You'll also clean and sanitize your work area, equipment, and utensils; follow safe food-handling procedures; help prepare ingredients; and work with other members of the kitchen team to keep food ready for our guests.

Physical Requirements

This is an active kitchen position. Team members must be able to:

• Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 pounds
• Stand and work for extended periods
• Bend, kneel, twist, stoop, reach, and grasp
• Reach above the head and below the waist
• Use stairs as required
• Work safely around hot cooking equipment
