Sr. Accounting Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Accounting Manager Assists in the management of the Accounting Department which includes financial statements, annual budget preparation, annual audit, grant accounting, etc.

POSITION AUTHORITY:

The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.

POSITION GUIDELINES:

Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Accounts Payable & Taxes Payable

• Prepare check requests for Encore audio visual, and review reconciliation of the bill to monthly sales entries to Hotel and Convention Center clients; prepare Sniper photo check request      
• Review reconciliations of monthly sales, beverage, hotel occupancy, and TABC taxes
• Review monthly contract labor and book accrual entries

Accounts Receivable

• Prepare monthly A/R reconciliations and aging schedules

Cash Control

• Review vault and petty cash periodically

Cash Management

• Prepare Bank Reconciliations

Payroll

• Weekly preparation and reconciliation of tip shares, spa, hotel outlets, and Garden Restaurant gratuity schedules and submit to Payroll
• Monthly preparation and reconciliation of Attractions Sales incentives, Hotel Sales, Reservations, Front Desk, and Valet incentives and submit to Payroll

Cost Accounting

• Review month-end inventories and prepare related G/L entries

• Review departmental financial statements for proper matching of income and expense

General Accounting:

• Responsible for monthly reconciliations and associated G/L entries for the following:
  • Sniper photos and Paypal account, Snack Attack, Hurricane and Tornado Simulator, Event Network gift shop sales and invoicing for Pepsi orders, miscellaneous cash deposits, deferred income, including holiday events, postage allocation, incentives amortization, prepaid expense amortization
• Review four POS systems daily reports and monthly reconciliations
• Prepare Golf Daily revenue report and reconcile payments
• Responsible for tip and gratuity reconciliations, other A/R, deferred income reconciliations, credit card chargeback allocations and entries
• Review Golf banquet events for proper gratuity and tax calculations and pass on to payroll
• Reconcile Groupon, Viator, Clover, ResortPass payments to guest charges for Attractions and Spa
• Assist the CFO with the preparation of the Annual Budget
• Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
• CPA certification required
• At least five (5) years in a computerized accounting office environment required

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Must be extremely proficient in MS Excel
• Must be reliable, detail-oriented and well-organized
• Must have the ability to multi-task while meeting multiple deadlines
• Must be able to work under pressure
• Must have a firm grasp of accounting and business concepts
• Must be able to calculate figures and amounts for all bookkeeping, payroll, budgets, statistical analysis and probability statements

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• Experience with Sage Intacct accounting software.
• Experience with POS (Point of Sale) and PMS (Property Management System) software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to sit for long periods of time

Salary : $85,000 - $95,000
