School Psychometrist 10 month

Psychometrist - 10 Month QUALIFICATIONS: Certification in School Psychometry at the A-Certification level as issued by the State Department of Education. Licensed Clinical Psychologist competent in psychological assessment. Listed on the Alabama Roster of Approved Psychologist and Psychometrists for Testing Children Referred for Placement in Special Education Classes (1983 Edition). Experience in administration of standardized IQ achievement, behavior rating, adaptive behavior instruments. Capable knowledge of using word processing and/or computer scoring programs in preparing psychological reports. Valid Alabama driver's license is preferred. Provide own or have access to appropriate transportation to meet job requirements. REPORTS TO: Special Education Director REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of pyschoeducational testing, evaluation, intervention, consultation and the area of special education. Skills to communicate and interpret assessment results to colleagues, parents, and students and to use the results for intervention and remediation. Mobility and visual acuity to make on-site visits to schools for testing purposes. JOB GOAL: Through a program of psychological diagnosis, to improve the school educational experience of those students with major emotional, learning disabilities and developmental lags. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Administers and/or coordinates all individual assessments and reassessments required for initial student placement and re-evaluation in special education. Prepares evaluation reports that can be easily understood by school staff and parents. Participates on the Multidisciplinary Eligibility Determination Committee (MEDC) to interpret evaluation results and assists in making decisions regarding the placements of students. Interprets and discusses evaluation results for parents/guardians. Insures that all psychological data are maintained and confidential. Fosters cooperative working relationships with principals, teachers, and all other related personnel. Coordinates workshops and seminars for faculty and staff members concerning matters related to special education. Keeps informed regarding research, psychological and educational testing practices in the areas of test construction, test administration, and test interpretation. Attends conferences and/or conventions relating to special education services and psychological evaluations to improve professional skills and knowledge. Consults and collaborates with principals, teachers, and counselors regarding the inclusion of special education students in the regular class. Assumes other reasonable and equitable job-related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and length of contract to be determined by the Board. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
