Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Lead Preschool Teacher familiar with and excited to immerse themself in the Montessori Method to join our vibrant team and work toward becoming fully certified by NAMC. In this role, you will create engaging learning experiences rooted in the Montessori Method with our vast inventory of Montessori materials, support each child's individual social emotional and academic growth, and promote a positive, inclusive, collaborative classroom atmosphere. Your guidance will inspire curiosity, independence, and a love of learning in your students. This current position is for ages 3 and up.
Responsibilities
- Create and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum utilizing the Montessori Method and appropriate works in each of the 6 learning areas as you become familiar and comfortable in the approach.
- Foster an engaging environment that encourages independence, confidence, and creativity in your students.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a safe, equitable, and structured space for students.
- Support each child’s social-emotional and academic development through a Whole-Child approach.
- Collaborate with parents and guardians to communicate progress and address individual needs.
- Consistently log accurate records of student progress and classroom activities for regular updates and twice yearly conferences.
- Maintain an orderly, clean classroom throughout the school day.
- Take on assigned tasks as needed.
Requirements
- 2 years experience as a Lead Teacher in a preschool classroom preferred.
- Prior work at a Montessori school or in a mixed age classroom desired.
- Demonstrable experience creating and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum for children aged 3-6.
- Classroom management skillset to calmly and effectively lead a group of up to 18 children.
- Strong knowledge of current childhood development theories and behavior intervention techniques that are supportive of children who are neurodiverse, have special needs, or are part of a marginalized group.
- Experience working with students who are neurodiverse, have special needs, or require other accommodations to support inclusivity and equity in the classroom.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with parents and colleagues.
- Willingness to spend time with your students outside in all seasons so long as conditions are considered safe.
- Ability to collaborate with and take direction from administration as a member of school leadership regarding curriculum, event planning, and behavior supports and interventions.

Pay: $13.00 - $16.00 per hour
