Terms of employment: 10-month, full time contract. Hours typically worked on a Monday-Friday schedule 9:30-5:30.

General Information
- The assistant teacher must have an ability to adapt and be flexible in day-to-day duty changes as needed, as well as an openness to taking direction in the moment.
- The ideal candidate should have experience working with or directly planning programs for children, as this person will be responsible for creating a Late Day / Aftercare program curriculum including themes, daily structured activities, etc.
- The position includes classroom management during the Montessori work cycle, assisting during transition times, covering teachers' breaks, monitoring lunch, recess and naptime, helping students go down for nap, completing a set list of chores each day, and leading our aftercare program.
- Carry out all specific instructions, procedures, and responsibilities as outlined by classroom Lead teacher
- Maintain order and cleanliness of the classroom environment.
- Supervise children on the playground and at lunch time to ensure safety
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students by following school emergency operations plan
- Ensure appropriate discipline grounded in restorative practices
- Respond to behavior as outlined in the behavior ladder
- Set environmental tone through effective classroom management
- Applicants should be able to lift small children, and expect to be on their feet for most of the shift.
- Caring for children ages 3-6 years old, including supporting children with bathroom accidents and during naptime.
- The assistant teacher must have an ability to adapt and be flexible in day-to-day duty changes as needed by teachers and staff, as well as an openness to learn and take directions in the moment.
- Applicants should have the natural patience to keep up with high energy young children, including the ability to give numerous gentle reminders, and to respect and follow the child.
- Implement inclusive practices to ensure all children are included and respected
- Ensure confidentiality of student records
- Follow directives from Lead Teacher and/or Director
- Collaborate with Lead Teachers, Director, and other support professionals
- Actively participate in all level, school, and organization staff meetings and learning opportunities
- Actively participate in family events
- Report accidents and concerns to Lead Teacher and/or Director
- Direct family concerns to Lead Teacher
- Communicate with families and colleagues to foster an atmosphere of respect and harmony; emphasize communication, cooperation and global awareness
- Communicate with Lead Teacher and/or Director when support with students, families, and/or colleagues is needed
