Job Description Position: Montessori Director
MUST BE QUALIFIED BY IL DCFS STANDARDS.
An MKU Head of School/Director should have a passion for working with and assisting children as well as strong leadership skills. A positive attitude and an enthusiasm for the job are important when working with young children. They must have excellent communication skills and the ability to exercise judgment. The director of an MKU franchise must also ensure that the facility meets its parent organization’s standards and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Must show good leadership skills and ability to relate well to children and adults, including parents, staff members, and visitors.
- Must be able to accept differences in style and personality among teachers and children.
- Must have the ability to supervise one or more assistant teachers.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Must have the ability to internalize and act upon suggestions and requirements imposed by the Management Team.
- Applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
Description of Role & Responsibilities:
- Recruit new students by attending community events and educational fairs, hosting open houses, and increasing the name recognition of MKU in the community and among parents of infants and young children.
- Answer all inquiries, set up appointments and tours with parents, and follow up with contacts.
- Maintain inquiry, enrollment, and attrition database, including potential students, current students, and alumni.
- Create new student records in Procare and update records for students who have reenrolled and exited.
- Chart applications and enrollment by month to make predictions.
- Maintain student profiles and progress data in conjunction with faculty.
- Maintain relationships with current families of enrolled students by attending meetings and school events.
- Create and maintain enrollment reports, including student rosters, classroom openings and full-time equivalents, financial reports, attrition, and projections.
- Communicate with teachers regarding Open Houses, Tours, Child Visits, Parent Visits, and the teacher’s roles in assisting with these.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Provide leadership and administrative oversight for daily center operations, with the flexibility to step into classrooms and directly support teaching staff as needed to maintain appropriate staffing ratios and ensure quality care for children
- Supply teachers with current rosters and parent contact information as needed.
- Maintain the office in an orderly and efficient manner in terms of documents, records, and positive customer service and to maintain confidentiality of all communications.
- Communicate and relay day-to-day information (phones, conversations, buzzers)to faculty, and staff when working in the front office.
- Maintain current ongoing records and database on all students and staff in the school and have the same available for the School's review upon request. Maintain the confidentiality of all such records.
- Act as payment liaison with the Business Office/ADP (ongoing recordkeeping of checks sent to the business office, direct debit payments, tuition payments) and distribute petty cash.
- Communicate facility and school issues with the Business Office.
- Prepare and maintain parent contracts.
- Relay payroll, transit check, and medical benefit information to the Business Office/ADP.
- Proofread/edit school accreditation and yearly reports, school-wide newsletters, conferences and reports.
- Order and coordinate the distribution of all supplies (paper, office, school). Itemize invoices for Business Office/ADP.
- Assist the teachers when needed.
- Child Abuse—Any incident of unexplained bruises, cuts, burns, etc., or any suspected child abuse should be reported to the Director.
- Maintain CPR, First Aid, and Medical Administration Training updates for all staff.
- Provide medicine forms to parents and administer medications when necessary.
- Keep track of the medical log in the office.
- Plan, implement, and record monthly fire drills.
- Assist the Department of Health officers who visit the school.
- Follow all School policies and procedures as stated in the Employee Handbook and the School's Rules and Regulations, as presently existing or as may hereafter be amended.
- Follow all standards in accordance with the local licensing department.
- Any additional duties as determined by the School Owner
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Maintain a safe, orderly environment for adults and children.
- Authorize expenditures within the budget approved by the owner.
- Work with families to notify enrollment acceptance, or placement on the waiting list.
- Attend and arrange for meetings with the Owner.
- Maintain requirements of Codes for present facilities.
- Represent and interpret school programs to the community.
- Set up appointments and tours with parents, answer all inquiries and follow up every contact with LineLeader CRM protocol.
Staff Responsibilities
- Provide a sounding board for teaching staff.
- Monitor and attend Monthly teacher meetings.
- Participate in parent conferences as needed.
- Meet individually with faculty/staff as needed.
- Help provide resources for the teaching staff.
- Evaluate with the staff their in-service training needs and find, or help plan for, training experiences to meet these needs.
- Help facilitate communication between staff members, and between staff and parents.
- Provide a list of substitute teachers so that teachers may contact, with approval of the Head of School/Director, their own substitutes.
- Participate in the interviewing and hiring of faculty and staff as designated in your School’s Hiring Procedures.
- Serve as the 'face' of the school, managing communication with parents and the community.
- Assist the owner in the financial management of the center.
