EVOLVE SCREENING OFFICER

Reports To: Evolve Screening Supervisor / Public Safety Manager

Position Summary

Monterrey Security is seeking professional, dependable, and customer-service-oriented Evolve Screening Officers to join our security team at Lincoln Park Zoo.

Evolve Screening Officers are responsible for providing a safe, welcoming, and professional experience for zoo guests while conducting security screening at designated entrances. Officers will screen guests and their belongings in accordance with Lincoln Park Zoo procedures, Monterrey Security post orders, and applicable security protocols.

This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a public-facing environment and are comfortable interacting with guests of all ages while maintaining a professional security presence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct guest screening at designated Lincoln Park Zoo entrances using Evolve screening equipment and procedures.
• Follow all Lincoln Park Zoo and Monterrey Security post orders, policies, and procedures.
• Screen guests and personal belongings in a professional, courteous, and consistent manner.
• Operate screening equipment and follow all required procedures and instructions.
• Maintain awareness of the surrounding area and immediately report suspicious activity, prohibited items, safety concerns, or security incidents to the appropriate supervisor.
• Provide professional customer service and assist guests with questions regarding the screening process.
• Maintain a visible and professional security presence while interacting with zoo guests.
• Control access through assigned screening areas and follow direction from Lincoln Park Zoo Public Safety and Monterrey Security management.
• Assist with maintaining orderly guest lines and safe pedestrian flow during busy periods and special events.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, fellow officers, zoo employees, and guests.
• Complete required incident reports, and other documentation accurately and promptly. Report equipment issues, safety hazards, guest concerns, or operational problems to the Evolve Screening Supervisor / Public Safety Manager
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established emergency procedures.
• Always maintain uniform and personal appearance standards.

Qualifications

Required:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must possess or be able to obtain all required Illinois security credentials and licensing applicable to the position.
• Must be able to pass a background screening in accordance with company and client requirements.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from Lincoln Park Zoo.
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Must be able to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions when assigned.
• Must be able to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
• Must be dependable and have a strong attendance record.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Preferred:

• Previous security, public safety, hospitality, customer service, event security, or guest-services experience.
• Previous experience working in a high-volume public environment.
• Experience operating security screening equipment.
• Experience working at a zoo, museum, stadium, attraction, or other public venue.

Physical Requirements

The position may require the officer to:

• Stand for extended periods.
• Walk throughout assigned areas.
• Bend, reach, and move as necessary to perform screening duties.
• Work indoors and outdoors.
• Work in hot, cold, rainy, or otherwise changing weather conditions.
• Maintain alertness and situational awareness throughout the shift.

Scheduling

Full-Time Positions:

Full-time officers may be scheduled for approximately 30 to 36 hours per week, based on site operational needs. Availability for weekends, holidays, and special events may be required.

Seasonal Positions:

Seasonal officers will be scheduled based on Lincoln Park Zoo’s seasonal operational needs, special events, attendance levels, and available shifts. Seasonal employees may have the opportunity to work additional hours based on operational demand and performance.

Weekend and Holiday Availability:
Because Lincoln Park Zoo operates primarily as a public attraction, weekend and holiday availability is strongly preferred and may be required for certain assignments.

Training

Selected candidates will receive site-specific on-site training being assigned to work independently.

Training may include:

• Lincoln Park Zoo site orientation.
• Monterrey Security policies and procedures.
• Evolve screening procedures and equipment.
• Guest-service expectations.
• Post orders and access-control procedures.
• Emergency response procedures.
• Incident reporting and documentation.
• Communication and radio procedures.
• Prohibited item and screening protocols.
