Job Summary
Under the direction of the assigned Principal, the Braille Transcriber assists in the production of educational materials into alternative format (braille, large print, audio) and provides instructional support for visually impaired students. Performs duties which relate to the ongoing special educational needs of students with visual impairment under the guidance of a teacher of visually impaired (TVI).
Requirements / Qualifications
Education and Experience: - Education as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015: High school diploma or equivalent AND two (2) years of higher education study (48 semester units) OR possession of an Associate’s or higher degree OR met a rigorous standard of quality and able to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics - Specialized training appropriate for the area of assignment (i.e., behavior training, sign language, braille, etc.) - Experience working with individuals with special needs - Computer experience Licenses and Certifications: - Valid California driver’s license with evidence of insurability - Passing Score on the MCOE Braille Competency Test - Complete approved MCOE Crisis Intervention Program within six (6) months of employment and maintains valid certification - First Aid and CPR Certification within six (6) months of employment
