Montefiore Einstein Advanced Care is a multi-specialty practice proudly serving Manhattan. We currently have an exciting opportunity available for a full time X-Ray Technician in our Manhattan, NY location. Must be able to travel to Elmsford, NY for training and evaluation after hiring.
Job Summary:
Performs routine, portable and some special procedure imaging which requires prescribed ionizing radiation for imaging diagnosis. Prepares patient for procedures. Assists radiologists when needed. Prepares, operates, and cares for the equipment being used. Adheres to established standards of care. Pursues appropriate continuing education. Assumes responsibility for assigned area and duties. Adheres to established customer service programs. Performs other duties as assigned, such as quality assurance. Exercises professional judgments in performance of procedures. Provides patient care.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understands and adheres to the Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors
- Prepares and positions patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol including proper documentation on images and required body part questionnaires
- Assesses patient's condition regarding ability to comprehend and participate in procedure
- Introduces themselves and educates each patient or family member regarding the examination that is ordered
- Assumes responsibilities for designated areas and/or procedures and produces good technical images, reviewing completed images for quality, completeness for the type of radiograph ordered
- Assists physicians during procedures as necessary
- Maintains the cleanliness of all areas, equipment, and accessories. Reports all malfunctioning equipment to supervisor
- Assures patient safety using immobilization devices/techniques when patients must be left unattended and appropriate transfer techniques
- Produce a computer-generated image for interpretation by a physician
- Assists physicians during procedures as necessary
- Performs quality assurance and calibrations as needed
- Maintains the cleanliness of all areas, equipment and accessories. Reports all malfunctioning equipment to radiology supervisor
- Performs routine office duties, such as answering the phones, checking previous reports/ films, documents information on patients request.
- Notifies front desk staff upon exam completion and delays
- Shows radiologist films and calls report to attending physician and documents communication if necessary (STAT readings)
- May be assigned as instructor or preceptor
- Should be knowledgeable and skillful in providing care, based on age, physical and psychosocial stature of patient populations; pediatric, adolescent, adults, and geriatric groups.
- Attends staff meetings and in-services
- Performs all other related duties as assigned
- Perform quality control checks on laboratory equipment or cameras
- Perform radiation safety procedures in compliance with applicable state and local guidelines
- Maintain a high level of professional competency by obtaining continuing education credits
- Performs routine office duties, such as answering the phones, checking previous reports/ films, documents information on patients request

Education & Experience:
- Associate’s
- 2-4 years
- Utilizes EMR, Radiographic exposure equipment. Epic, Pac’s system, Midas.

Licenses, Registrations and/or Professional Certifications:
- Must complete two-year radiologic training certified program and must be certified by the American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT). Continuing education requirements need to be upheld to meet the standards set forth by governing bodies. Current standards are 24 ECE credits over a two-year period depending on year of birth. BCLS Certification is required. 12 credits each year. Valid license by the State of New York, Injection registered not required'
