The Mammography Technologist delivers exceptional healthcare services to patients undergoing medical imaging procedures. The technologist performs a full spectrum of mammography procedures with oversight of QA/QC and ensures site compliance with the American College of Radiology (ACR) standards and MQSA requirements as mandated by the FDA.

Job Functions:

1. Performs routine and some special procedure imaging at a technical level, not requiring constant supervision of technical detail.

2. Prepares patients for procedures.

Performs prescribed procedures via the utilization of ionizing radiation for imaging diagnosis.

3. Assists Radiologists when needed.

4. Performs and document all quality assurance and quality control per guidelines.

5. Mentors and trains mammography staff.

6. Handles patient complaints specific to mammography.

7. Ensures compliance with MQSA and ACR standards.

8. Prepares for and coordinates inspections and accreditation processes.

9. Oversees the mammography schedule, including shift coverage and patient volume.

10. Oversees quality improvement, making sure image quality is maintained, equipment etc

11. Monitors equipment performance and schedule necessary maintenance and upgrades.

12. Monitors compliance with recommendations for follow up studies.

13. Monitors recommendations for biopsies to ensure follow up procedures have been performed.

14. Maintains pathology results from biopsies.

15. Maintains accurate records of technologist and radiologist credentials.

16. Ensures previous mammography studies from outside facilities are available for Radiologist review.

17. Maintains and updates medical audit analysis in coordination with lead interpreting physician.

18. Performs additional duties as assigned.
