About the Role
Montecito Bank & Trust is seeking a full-time Chief Credit Officer to join the team in our Credit Administration department. As a Chief Credit Officer, you will deliver a World Class Experience by providing support, direction, and credit information for loan policies, underwriting guidelines, and procedures to ensure the overall quality of the Bank's lending portfolio. Duties include calculating the Allowance for credit Loss Reserve (ALLL) and making recommendations to Executive Management and the Board of Directors for monthly allocations to the allowance for credit loss. Reviews and approves/declines large and complex loans prior to submission to Board Loan Committee or within delegated lending authority. Responsible for post approval review processes and credit reviews as well as insuring proper and timely loan classification. As a member of the Bank’s administrative management team, the position is responsible for participating in several committees involved in the management of the Bank. Performs direct supervisory duties of department staff, and coordinates staff for coverage in all related areas of the department. Assumes responsibility and is accountable for adherence to Bank policies and procedures as well as all regulatory compliance and safety and soundness guidelines. This position has an on-site requirement in Goleta, CA.
What We’re Looking For
- A college degree with emphasis in accounting or finance or equivalent required; MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
- 8-10 years of experience in all phases of lending, including commercial/industrial, various real estate and construction, and consumer purposes required.
- 8-10 years of experience in credit administration supervision and management for loan portfolio oversight and reporting, including special assets management required.
- Extensive experience approving complex commercial, industrial, and commercial real estate transactions required.
- Mastered knowledge of commercial, construction, real estate and consumer loan underwriting.
- Ability to build and maintain strategic relationships and partner with all lines of business to provide sound credit management guidance.
