Position Overview
Monte Vista Homes is excited to add a Construction Apprentice to our tract homebuilding division. We are seeking a motivated individual that is looking to bridge the gap between novice and skilled tradesperson by combining on-the-job (OJT) training with Related Task Instruction (RTI).
As a Construction Apprentice you are expected to fulfill measurable, performance-based duties to advance through established skill levels while assisting the Superintendent in the completion of safe, compliant, and essential construction tasks. This is a Full-time position. You will be assigned to one or more jobsites and will report to the Site Superintendent and Regional Construction Manager.
Daily Job Duties
Success in this role requires a proactive work ethic and a commitment to maintaining professional standards across active job sites. Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Superintendent Assistance: Assisting the Superintendent with coordinating trade schedules, scheduling city inspections, staging materials and taking accurate measurements.
- Site Maintenance: Maintaining the construction site to ensure it remains free from trash and debris.
- Interior Upkeep: Ensuring the cleanliness of the interior of homes during various phases of construction.
- Site Preparation: Performing light demolition and occasional light framing or prep work to ensure homes are ready for final turnover.
Key Performance Metrics
Progress is measured by the apprentice's ability to operate safely alongside skilled workers while mastering core construction trade competencies.
- Skill Development & Trade Execution: Learns day-to-day activities on active sites. Metric: Consistently applies techniques learned on the job to complete physical tasks with increasing accuracy and minimal supervision.
- Tool & Equipment Operation: Handles and maintains tools appropriate for carpentry, plumbing, or general labor. Metric: Demonstrates safe use of hand and power tools, ensuring they are properly cleaned, stored, and maintained.
- Compliance & Safety: Adheres strictly to Cal/OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Metric: Maintains a clean safety record, wears required PPE at all times, and proactively identifies job-site hazards to the Superintendent.
- Team Collaboration & Productivity: Responds to instructions quickly and accurately. Metric: Completes tasks within established timeframes and exhibits a strong, proactive work ethic.
Requisites & Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Basic knowledge of construction principles.
- Tools: Must possess basic hand tools, including a hammer, measuring tape, and pry-bar.
- Safety: Commitment to wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and following all safety protocols.
- Communication: Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately and perform Email communication
Physical Ability: Must be capable of performing physical labor in various weather conditions, including lifting and carrying materials as needed.

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
