Job description:
The role:
An experienced Private Chef is required for a long-term role with a UHNW family based primarily near Jupiter Island, Florida, with seasonal residence in New Jersey from May through August. The role is focused on cooking lunch and dinner for the principals, supporting regular entertaining, preparing daily staff lunches, and maintaining the kitchen to a high standard. The chef will be based in Florida from approximately September to May and be based at the family's New Jersey residence from May through August. Accommodation during the New Jersey season is provided by the family in the staff quarters. The family is looking for someone to start as soon as possible.
Food and cuisine preferences:
The principals enjoy a wide variety of international cuisine, including Mediterranean, Indian, American, seafood, and game. The principal enjoys refined, creative, Michelin-level cooking with excellent presentation, while the other principal prefers simpler meals. Formal plated dinners are served daily, with three-course meals common even for two guests. Lunch service is more relaxed. Entertaining ranges from intimate dinners of four to six guests to occasional summer parties for up to thirty guests.
Contract and package:
This is a full-time, permanent employed position working approximately 200 days per year. The schedule is typically Wednesday to Sunday, with Monday and Tuesday off, although flexibility is required around the family's schedule. Salary ranges from $150,000 to $200,000 per year, depending on experience. Health insurance is fully covered for the employee, with 401(k) profit sharing of up to $10,000 annually, a $2,000 health savings allowance, staff vehicle access for shopping if required, and a professional dining and research allowance. Cooking daily staff lunch for four to six employees is part of the chef's role. A valid driving licence is required.
Additional information:
The family has enjoyed long-term relationships with previous chefs and is seeking another lasting appointment. A Michelin-level background is strongly preferred, together with previous experience as a Private Chef in UHNW households. The chef will work in the family's main kitchen alongside a professional household team and is expected to maintain exceptional cleanliness, organisation, and food presentation.
