The NTT faculty positions in the School of Music are vital in providing specialized instruction for our degree programs and enhancing the musical diversity and collaborative potential of the tenured and tenure-track faculty through performance, composition, and scholarship. www.montana.edu/music
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach applied voice consisting of both music and non-music majors and pedagogy. The appointment will include teaching in a secondary area(s) of need – music appreciation (Enjoyment of Music and American Popular Music), aural perception, and/or theory/composition courses. The appointment is a 1-year sabbatical replacement (fall and spring semesters), non-tenure track. The appointment will also include other responsibilities that vary with the needs of the school.
This position is not eligible for new sponsorship.

The Bachelor of Arts in Music Technology is a synthesis of traditional musical training and application through new technologies. Students develop skills in areas including music composition and theory, recording, sound synthesis, sound design for film and theater, audio for film/video and multimedia, film scoring, notation and sequencing, orchestration, interdisciplinary collaboration, music business, and instrumental/vocal performance.
The Master of Music in Music Education is designed for currently licensed, practicing music teachers. This degree program can be completed 100% online, allowing students to earn an advanced music degree while continuing their teaching career. The MMME curriculum emphasizes practical applications of music and music education content in K-12 music classrooms.
The College
The College of Arts and Architecture is home to distinctive academic programs housed in the Schools of Art, Architecture, Music, and Film & Photography. Students enjoy close mentoring relationships with faculty through a curriculum that is rich in studio and lab-based pedagogy. The College offers international and cultural travel opportunities for students in all majors and encourages internship experiences for many of its programs. - Collaborative performance with faculty.
- Other responsibilities that vary with the needs of the school.
- Master’s degree in vocal performance or pedagogy.
- Vocal performance experience and/or graduate voice study.
- Successful studio teaching experience.
- Experience or potential as a college-level music instructor.
- Voice Type: soprano/mezzo-soprano
- Doctorate or ABD in vocal performance or pedagogy.
- Successful teaching experience in voice at the college level.
- Successful teaching in a secondary area(s) at the college level
- Be able to work closely with other faculty in a collegiate environment and contribute to the academic mission of the school.
- Work effectively with students from different backgrounds and levels of experience.
