Position
The Lead serves as the frontline leader responsible for driving daily operational excellence within the department. This role translates organizational strategy into clear direction and execution on the shop floor. The Lead builds team capability, ensures safe and efficient operations, proactively resolves challenges, and fosters a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Assign duties and examine work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies, procedures, and to the manufacturing schedule.
- Troubleshoot issues that arise on the shop floor and confer with supervisors and production personnel to resolve problems, keeping projects moving for the best outcome.
- Responsible for identifying and moving all unfinished and finished products to the proper location within the shop operating a forklift, if trained.
- Ensures all equipment is properly set up and used safely and that all safety devices are in use.
- Perform inspections as required by company and customer standards.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality Control, HR, and other departments to strengthen operational alignment and communication.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of manufacturing operating systems.
- Knowledge of 5S, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement principles.
- Self-awareness and emotional intelligence to effectively lead and influence others.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operating systems and workflow optimization.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
- Ability to work from various squatting, kneeling, or bending positions.
- Ability to work with arms above head.
- Ability to work from crawling or lying positions.
- Ability to safely use hand, air, pneumatic, and power tools, and machinery.
