- Knowledge of basic wrestling techniques, rules, and training methods.
- Prior coaching or wrestling experience preferred; experience with middle school athletes is a plus.
- Ability to support the Head Coach in planning and running practices, meets, and team activities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work effectively with student-athletes, families, and school staff.
- Must complete all MHSAA and district-required training and certifications (CPR, First Aid, Concussion Awareness, and others as required).
- Availability for practices, meets, and team events, including evenings and weekends.
- Assist the Head Coach in developing and implementing a wrestling program focused on skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic success.
- Teach and reinforce wrestling fundamentals appropriate for middle school athletes.
- Supervise athletes during practices, competitions, and team activities to ensure safety and accountability.
- Support the Head Coach in maintaining compliance with MHSAA rules and district policies.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, families, and school personnel as needed.
- Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes through professionalism, respect, and integrity.
- Help promote participation, school spirit, and enthusiasm for the wrestling program.

Position Summary
Monroe Middle School is seeking a committed and knowledgeable Assistant Wrestling Coach to support the middle school wrestling program. The ideal candidate will assist the Head Coach in fostering a positive, inclusive, and development-focused team environment. This role requires strong communication skills, an understanding of fundamental wrestling techniques, and a dedication to promoting sportsmanship, skill-building, and adherence to Monroe Public Schools and MHSAA standards.
