Position Summary: The focus of the Process Engineer is to be responsible for the engineering, design, and commissioning of air pollution control and/or water and wastewater treatment systems. This is accomplished through process and applications engineering, system design, and collaboration with sales, estimating, customers, mechanical designers, shop fabricators, and related team members.
Responsibilities:
- Applications engineering and system design of air pollution control and/or water and wastewater treatment equipment
- Selection of pumps, fans, and other process equipment through evaluation and technical review of materials of construction, flow/pressure, and other process requirements
- Mechanical design and process engineering, including piping design and calculations, P&IDs, equipment sizing, and component selection
- Prepares engineering drawings and schematics (PID/PFD, etc.)
- Assists with preparing engineering submittals for customers
- Prepares purchasing requisitions for system components
- Assist with editing Installation, Operation, and Maintenance Manuals
- Assist sales engineers to evaluate new opportunities from technical feasibility standpoint
- Assists with preparing detailed cost estimates which include allocations for engineering, manufacturing, project management, materials, for other specific project costs
- Review customer approval drawings, shop fabrication drawings, installation drawings, O&M manuals, bills of equipment, and subcontractor scopes of work
- Resolves discrepancies by proactively collecting and analyzing missing or required information
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications
- Additional duties as identified by team members
Skills and Experience:
- Engineering and mechanical system design, preferably in industrial capital equipment
- Familiar with the design of tanks in metal and plastic, pumps and piping systems, fans and ductwork, structural steel, instrumentation, and controls
- Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other software applications essential
- Knowledge of air handling systems and/or water treatment technologies
o Industrial processes which generate water and air pollution
o Water pollutants and properties (metals, suspended solids, dissolved solids, oils, etc.)
o Pumps, maintenance, curves, and hydraulic principles/laws
o Air pollutants and properties (acid gases, alcohols, oils, VOCs, PM, mist, etc.)
o Fan curves and laws – pressure, velocity, horsepower, and airflow
- Ability to read engineered drawings, prints, and specs
- Experience visiting industrial facilities a plus:

- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

Education and/or Beneficial Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical or chemical preferred) or related field preferred
- 3-5 years of experience as a mechanical engineer, chemical engineer, estimator, or project engineer at a minimum
