    JOB DESCRIPTION
    :
    The Early College Access COSER is a BOCES service created to expand access to college-level courses for high school students at no out-of-pocket cost to students or families. The Early College Access Specialist serves as an instructional and advising practice specialist, supporting districts and college partners to strengthen the quality, equity, and coherence of dual enrollment and early college instruction and advising. The Specialist works alongside educators and counselors to deepen instructional rigor, align advising practices, and support student readiness for postsecondary success, while collaborating with program leadership on system-level continuous improvement. The Specialist develops subject-matter expertise in dual enrollment policies, practices, and pathways and supports shared learning across districts and institutions.

    TYPICAL DUTIES
    :

    Coordination & Support
    • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with high school counselors, district administrators, and college partner teams to understand local contexts, and build shared understanding and support alignment across secondary and postsecondary systems
    • Serve as a resource for counselors, educators, and college staff by providing guidance, clarification, and shared problem-solving related to Early College Access structures, expectations, and advising practices.
    • Develop and apply working knowledge of district and IHE advising structures, instructional models, and operational processes to provide relevant, responsive support.
    • Translate NYSED dual enrollment and early college guidance into actionable instructional, advising, and programmatic practices.
    • Create and maintain clear, accessible program communications and resources (e.g., website, newsletters, shared digital workspaces) to support districts and partners.
    • Support coordination of Early College Access activities, including professional learning, partner meetings, advisory efforts, and cross-district or cross-institution collaboration.
    • Contribute to evaluation of course offerings and pathway development using data in collaboration with districts, BOCES programs, and college partners.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders and industry partners to support early career exposure and exploration opportunities for dual enrolled students.
    • Support the coordination and quality assurance of operational processes, including course agreements, enrollment documentation, and invoicing workflows, in collaboration with clerical and program support staff.

    Professional Learning & Instructional Coaching Support
    • Provide coaching and consultative support to dual enrollment instructors and counselors to strengthen instructional practices, advising strategies, and alignment to college expectations.
    • Support districts in examining instructional and advising practices through reflection, feedback, and data-informed improvement cycles.
    • Collaborate with districts, BOCES, and college partners to design, coordinate, and deliver synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities.

    Advisory Support
    • Participate in Early College Access advisory committee activities by contributing educator perspective and supporting shared understanding of program priorities.
    • Gather and synthesize feedback from districts, instructors, counselors, and partners to inform updates to guidance, professional learning, and program supports.
    • Use student access, participation, and achievement data to inform instructional supports, advising practices, and continuous improvement efforts in collaboration with districts and program leadership.
    • Travel to support meetings, professional learning, and collaboration with participating districts, BOCES programs, and college partners.
    • Perform other related duties consistent with the scope and responsibilities of the position, as assigned.
    • Reports directly to the Assistant Director of Workforce Development and Post-Secondary Pathways

    **This role requires regular travel throughout the assigned service area to support meetings, school district engagement, employer partnerships, and regional events. A flexible, hybrid work environment may be required to meet the needs of partners and stakeholders.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    :

    Experience:
    • 3–5 years of experience in secondary education, higher education, or a related field.
    • Experience working across K–12 and/or higher education systems strongly preferred.
    • Strong technical and organizational skills, including the ability to manage and maintain shared digital workspaces

    Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in education, human services, public administration, or a related field required.
    • NYSED Certification in Secondary Education or Counseling or meets the requirements for the Community Liaison Specialist civil service title
    • Master's degree preferred.

Salary : $46,500 - $66,500
