PAY SCALE: $28.00 - $37.00 per hour, based on education and experience

SCHEDULE:Classes Tuesday and Thursday 5:30-8:30 plus additional hours for planning and grading as assigned

JOB DESCRIPTION:

To provide quality instruction to Deaf/HH students in the fundamentals of Construction Trades.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

• Prepare syllabus and daily lesson plans and hands-on projects for the practical application of the curriculum
• Prepare and deliver instructional materials in ASL to assist student learning.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance and student progress
• Provide individual and group instruction in the implementation of the curriculum
• Use a variety of instructional strategies to properly monitor and assess student performance
• Prepare pre/post-tests and performance evaluations for students at the completion of each unit
• Classes Tuesday and Thursday 5:30-8:30 plus additional hours for planning and grading as assigned
• Use relevant technology to support instruction
• Maintain and modify curriculum to remain current and up to date with industry standards
• Maintaining accurate and complete records of student attendance and progress throughout the course
• Observe and evaluate student performance and development
• Order student textbooks, supplies, materials, and equipment necessary for the implementation for the job training program
• Provide appropriate safety training
• Effective supervision of students
• Maintain and modify curriculum to remain current and up to date
• Monitor employment tracking of students and assist in collecting placement data
• Maintain all safety standards as mandated by OSHA and the BOCES 2 organization
• Consistent and effective program recruitment

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Certification Requirements

• Certification Requirements:
• Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL)
• 2-5 years of current experience working in the field of construction trades
• Strong knowledge of the content area
• Teaching experience preferred but not required
• Certificate or advanced credential preferred but not required

Other Qualifications:

• Must be able to use computers for attendance, grade management, email, and other applications necessary to fulfil the requirements of the position.
