JOB DESCRIPTION:
To provide quality instruction to Deaf/HH students in the fundamentals of Construction Trades.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Prepare syllabus and daily lesson plans and hands-on projects for the practical application of the curriculum
- Prepare and deliver instructional materials in ASL to assist student learning.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and student progress
- Provide individual and group instruction in the implementation of the curriculum
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to properly monitor and assess student performance
- Prepare pre/post-tests and performance evaluations for students at the completion of each unit
- Classes Tuesday and Thursday 5:30-8:30 plus additional hours for planning and grading as assigned
- Use relevant technology to support instruction
- Maintain and modify curriculum to remain current and up to date with industry standards
- Maintaining accurate and complete records of student attendance and progress throughout the course
- Observe and evaluate student performance and development
- Order student textbooks, supplies, materials, and equipment necessary for the implementation for the job training program
- Provide appropriate safety training
- Effective supervision of students
- Maintain and modify curriculum to remain current and up to date
- Monitor employment tracking of students and assist in collecting placement data
- Maintain all safety standards as mandated by OSHA and the BOCES 2 organization

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Certification Requirements
- Certification Requirements:
- Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL)
- 2-5 years of current experience working in the field of construction trades
- Strong knowledge of the content area
- Teaching experience preferred but not required
- Certificate or advanced credential preferred but not required
Other Qualifications:
- Must be able to use computers for attendance, grade management, email, and other applications necessary to fulfil the requirements of the position.
