SALARY RANGE: $53,350 - $86,508 per school year

Description

The Instructional Specialist in this role will serve as a knowledgeable collaborator, facilitator, and advocate in promoting the principles of the New York State Culturally Responsive Sustaining Education Framework. This Instructional Specialist will work collaboratively with the Director of District Supports to strengthen partnerships and expand access to services for school districts. The role includes engaging in strategic planning aligned to the four guiding principles to support Monroe One and Monroe 2 BOCES component districts. The Instructional Specialist will promote the social-emotional well-being of both staff and students through professional practice and instructional support that aligns with district organizational practices. This work will reflect best practices grounded in inclusion, equity, and diversity across Monroe County schools. This position requires expertise in adult and student learning theory to design and deliver regional and district-level services that are equitable and accessible. The Instructional Specialist will support the development of coherent systems that enable educational communities to design and implement student-centered learning environments that:

Duties

• Collaborate with the district leaders in supporting professional learning, strategic planning and evidence-based classroom/program practice in the areas of cultural responsiveness. 2. Collaboratively develop and support the delivery/train the trainer model of foundational and ongoing training modules to support diversity, equity, social emotional learning and inclusivity across participating districts and organizational PD departments. 3. Work collaboratively with the districts' Organizational Development Team, internal Monroe One Champions Team & Office of Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Development and our BOCES school improvement teams to support equity goals/strategic planning and alignment across district initiatives. 4. Support Program Level teams through consultation, collaboration, and coaching.
  
  

Qualifications

• Master's degree in education.
• New York State Teaching Certification or Other Professional Certification. Special Education K-12 Students with Disability, General Education, ENL or bilingual, School Counseling or School Psychologist preferred.
• Must have 3-5 years' experience in education or related field, including developing PD for adult learners on equity shifts and implementation via culturally responsive practices.
• Knowledge and experience promoting diversity, equity, and inclusivity in schools/communities.
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse people, groups, and communities across all demographics.
• Demonstrated ability to be self-reflective in knowing own culture, personal filters, and implicit biases.
• Able to have difficult conversations effectively.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience with implementing culturally responsive and SEL practices in the classroom/school setting.
• Experience with creating and presenting effective professional learning for adults.
• Knowledge and experience of curriculum development processes.
• Experience in evaluating programs, systems, curriculum, and strategies for equity.
• Has deep knowledge of, and understands the connections between, the tenets of restorative practice, trauma responsive care, social-emotional learning, and cultural responsiveness.
• Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation).
• Flexible workday to occasionally accommodate after school/weekend component district team meetings and events.
