Superintendent, Operations (2nd Shift) (35157)

Position Overview:

The Operations Superintendent is expected to oversee the operations of assigned areas in assigned plants, including managing all processes and leading all operators in the performance of their duties. The role will ensure that all work areas are clean and sanitized and that GMP and HACCP procedures are followed.

The qualified individual should have previous experience of working in a food manufacturing environment and should have the people and operational skills to oversee the assigned area of responsibility efficiently. In addition, the successful candidate should be a strong people manager and should have strong organizational skills to ensure that all required regulatory documentation is completed and retained.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide guidance and direction for all team members.
• Ensure that all work areas are kept clean and organized.
• Create a safe and efficient workplace by ensuring that Supervisor Safety deliverables are made each month, and by encouraging "see something say something" in all team members.
• Investigate any incidents that arise.
• Ensure that GMP and HAACP procedures are followed, and that all necessary documentation is completed and maintained.
• Calibrate and verify the calibration of equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues that arise.
• Ensure that throughput is recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
• Replace internal probes when required.
• Provide overall management and oversight of the PBOs.
• Liaise with Operations Finance and other departments as required.
• Investigate and analyze new processes and innovations by helping develop cost-effective alternatives and improvements to production processes.
• Serve as backup to the Plant / Operations Manager as required.

Education and Experience:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in food science, Business, Engineering, or a related field highly preferred.
• Preferred Experience: Three or more years of manufacturing experience in the food industry, including two or more years of supervisory experience.

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:

• Works in a food production environment.
• Will be required to wear suitable Personal Protective Equipment.
• May be exposed to the loud noise of plant machinery.
• May be exposed to extreme temperatures, wet humid conditions, and inclement weather.
• May be exposed to oils, airborne particles, bodily fluids, and potentially hazardous chemicals. 
• May be required to work near moving mechanical parts, in a high, dangerous place, and in a confined space.
• May, on rare occasions, be exposed to the risk of electric shock.
