The political science program at Monmouth College invites applications for an Assistant Professor in American Politics, beginning Fall 2027. We seek candidates with broad expertise in political science; specialization in American Politics and interest in supporting our pre-Law program are preferred. The successful candidate will teach courses, advise and mentor undergraduates, help build the program, and participate in shared governance. A completed PhD is required prior to the start of the appointment.

The political science program is housed in the School of Humanities and Civic Engagement, which pairs the depths of the humanities and social sciences. The school’s animating commitments are critical thinking, the broad perspectives of the liberal arts, and real-world societal impact. Faculty have opportunities to participate in interdisciplinary programs, such as women’s studies. Though small, our program sends graduates regularly into strong law and graduate programs and into careers in Illinois politics.
