What are the responsibilities and job description for the COO (US office) – Major Hedge Fund position at Mondrian Alpha?
A high-profile, global multi-strategy hedge fund are looking to hire a COO for their rapidly expanding US business.
As the fund continue to expand and diversify, most notably with multiple recent and upcoming hires in investment, it is becoming increasingly challenging for the firm to have the most senior level of management on non-investment based overseas, hence the requirement to have a COO based onsite in New York.
The hire will oversee the continued expansion of the US office (at the most senior level), the buildout of non-investment teams at a much larger scale and they will play a leading role in the launch of new strategies / products / desks. The hire will also be a main sounding board for US Portfolio Managers (including being the first point of escalation for issues / challenges faced on US investment strategies), for senior management with regards to US business buildouts / strategy, and he/she will take lead for implementing broader strategic objectives (for example technology advancements), and more generally the hire will be tasked with delivering a better collaboration & visibility between global investment strategies (including how US PM teams interact with the firm’s global support functions).
This is a COO role closely aligned to front office / investment strategies and so it requires a hire that is far from just ‘operational’. Candidates could be existing Hedge Fund COO’s, global business managers at large multi-strategy businesses, or ex-traders / PM’s that have since moved into business roles now looking for a step up at the most senior level in non-investment. Multi-asset derivative backgrounds would be particularly useful.
